ปฏิสัมพันธ์ทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมกับการสร้างภาพตัวแทนต่อพื้นที่วัดจามเทวี Socio-Cultural Interactions and Representation of Space to Chamadevi Temple

     วัดเป็นสถานที่สำคัญและศูนย์กลางของชุมชนภายใต้สังคมพุทธศาสนาของไทย ซึ่งไม่ได้ทำหน้าที่เพียงเป็นที่พึ่งทางจิตใจเท่านั้น แต่ยังเป็นพื้นที่สร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ทางเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และวัฒนธรรมของชุมชนได้อีกด้วย ภายใต้การเปลี่ยนแปลงที่เกิดขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็วกับสังคมและชุมชน จึงเป็นที่น่าสังเกตว่า ภาพตัวแทนของวัดในสังคมแห่งความทันสมัยนี้จะมีลักษณะเป็นอย่างไร งานวิจัยนี้จึงต้องการที่จะวิเคราะห์รูปแบบการใช้พื้นที่วัดของคนในชุมชน ในฐานะเป็นสิ่งสะท้อนการเปลี่ยนแปลงรูปแบบความสัมพันธ์ทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมของคนในชุมชน และการสร้างภาพตัวแทนต่อวัดของคนในชุมชนที่มีผลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงการใช้พื้นที่ของวัด โดยวิธีการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพ การสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึกจากพระสงฆ์ ผู้นำชุมชน ข้าราชการ ชาวบ้าน รวมทั้งสิ้น 30 คน พร้อมทั้งการสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วม การสำรวจข้อมูลเชิงพื้นที่ และการวิเคราะห์เชิงพรรณนา ผลการศึกษา พบว่า พื้นที่วัดถูกใช้เพื่อกิจกรรมทางพุทธศาสนามากที่สุดโดยกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุ แต่สัดส่วนการใช้พื้นที่เพื่อสาธารณะประโยชน์และพื้นที่กิจกรรมในชุมชนกลับเพิ่มขึ้นมากที่สุด การจัดกิจกรรมในวัด ทำให้คนในชุมชนมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ต่อกัน สะท้อนให้เห็นว่า วัดเป็นพื้นที่สลายความขัดแย้งในภาวะที่เกิดการกีดกันทางสังคมระหว่างกลุ่มคนในชุมชน แม้ว่าความสัมพันธ์ทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมของคนในชุมชนในปัจจุบันได้เปลี่ยนไปจากเดิม แต่ภาพตัวแทนต่อวัดยังคงถูกสร้างขึ้นในฐานะที่เป็นศูนย์รวมจิตใจ ซึ่งถูกสร้างขึ้นโดยกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุและผู้ใหญ่ตอนปลายที่มีประสบการณ์และความผูกผันต่อวัดมาอย่างยาวนาน ภาพตัวแทนดังกล่าวถูกถ่ายทอดให้แก่อนุชนรุ่นหลังอย่างต่อเนื่องและเข้มข้น โดยชุมชนคาดหวังให้วัดคงสภาพเดิมเพื่อรักษาความสัมพันธ์ของชุมชน และรากฐานทางวัฒนธรรมดั้งเดิมไว้ภายใต้กระแสการพัฒนาและความขัดแย้งภายในชุมชน

     Temple is an important place as a center of community in Buddhist Thai society. The temple does not only act as a mental supporter, but it creates economic, social, and cultural interactions of the community as well. Under a rapid transformation in the society and community, it is therefore remarkable that how the representation of the temple in this modernized society is configured. This research, thus, needed to explore spatial utilization pattern in the temple by the villagers as a reflection of changes in socio-cultural relations affecting spatial patterns in the temple, as well as investigate the formation of a representative image to the temple that has the effect of changing the use of the area. This research was conducted by qualitative approach including in-depth interviews from monks, community leaders, government officers and villagers in the total of 30 people, together with participant observation, field survey, and descriptive analysis. Results from the study revealed that the temple area has been mostly used to the Buddhist activities by the elderly people. By the way, the ratio of the area used for public interests have been increased the most. Arranging some activities in this area promotes more interaction among villagers, as well as reflects that Chamadevi Temple is as the space of conflict resolution in the condition of social exclusion among groups of villagers. Even though socio-cultural relations have altered from the past, a representative image of the temple has still been constructed as the heart and soul of the community by the elderly and late-adult groups with longer experience and stronger sense of place attachment to the temple. This representation has been sent continuously and intensely to younger generation by the expectation in remaining unchanged to the temple in order to maintain the community relationship and traditional cultural root under development streams and intra-community conflict.
