Samples used in the study were purposively sampling. The samples were collected from a total of 74 farmers in Ban PA Phang, Phon Na Kaeo District, and farmers in Ban Muang Khai, Khok Si Suphan District, Sakon Nakhon Province. Tools utilized were structured interviews and content analysis. The research found that most of the samples were female, at the age of 50-60 years old. They all were rice farmers and had experience in doing household bookkeeping. Thirty-four percent of the samples continue to do bookkeeping. According to the content analysis, the learning process of the farmers comprised of 1) identifying problems, 2) exploring alternatives, 3) learning and implementing, and 4) improvement. Farmers who did not face problems in bookkeeping continue to do so. However, farmers who faced difficulties in bookkeeping had no support and therefore quit bookkeeping. When compared to the social learning process, the farmers’ learning process lacked two stages, which were the evaluation alternatives and feedback and evaluation. Should the government or stakeholders provide evaluation alternatives to farmers, such as more choices of accounting books for farmers and adding another stage of monitoring and evaluation after training, bookkeeping of farmers would be sustainable.
